2000 | 52,000 | 48,500 | 1,33,500 | 50,000
2013 | 8,00,500 | 10,74,000 | 38,68,000 | 8,00,000
Study the given table carefully and choose the correct option related to the Gross Domestic Income for the year 2013.
Income derived from the three sectors of the economy (in ₹ crores)
Year | Primary Sector | Secondary Sector | Tertiary Sector | Foreign Investment
2000 | 52,000 | 48,500 | 1,33,500 | 50,000
2013 | 8,00,500 | 10,74,000 | 38,68,000 | 8,00,000
- (A) ₹ 56,42,500 / ₹ 56,42,500
- (B) ₹ 56,24,500 / ₹ 56,24,500
- (C) ₹ 65,42,500 / ₹ 65,42,500
- (D) ₹ 65,24,500 / ₹ 65,24,500

GDP is the value of final goods and services produced by the three sectors within the country: 8,00,500 + 10,74,000 + 38,68,000 = ₹ 57,42,500 crore. This figure is not among the options, so no option is correct. Option (C) ₹ 65,42,500 is obtained only if foreign investment (₹ 8,00,000) is wrongly added, but foreign investment is not production of any sector. The board awarded the mark to every student who attempted the question.
GDP = Primary + Secondary + Tertiary only. Never add foreign investment.
Choose the correct option related to determining the Body Mass Index (BMI) :
- (A) किलोग्राम में वज़न + मीटर में लंबाई का वर्ग / Weight in kilograms + Square of the Height in metres
- (B) किलोग्राम में वज़न ÷ मीटर में लंबाई का वर्ग / Weight in kilograms ÷ Square of the Height in metres
- (C) किलोग्राम में वज़न × मीटर में लंबाई का वर्ग / Weight in kilograms × Square of the Height in metres
- (D) किलोग्राम में वज़न – मीटर में लंबाई का वर्ग / Weight in kilograms – Square of the Height in metres
Show Answer
BMI = किलोग्राम में वज़न ÷ (मीटर में लंबाई)²। इससे पता चलता है कि व्यक्ति अल्पपोषित है (BMI 18.5 से कम) या अधिक वज़न वाला है (25 से अधिक)।
BMI = weight in kg ÷ (height in metres)². It is used to check whether a person is undernourished (BMI below 18.5) or overweight (above 25).
Swapana is a small-scale farmer. She entirely depends on rainfall for her crop production. Which of the following would be a major developmental goal for Swapana ? Choose the most appropriate option.
- (A) गाँव तक बिजली का विस्तार / Extension of electricity to the village
- (B) अनाज मंडी का निर्माण / Construction of Anaaj Mandi
- (D) नहर का निर्माण / Construction of a canal
Show Answer
Swapana's crops depend entirely on rainfall, so her biggest need is an assured source of irrigation. A canal would give her water for her fields; the other options do not solve her main problem.
Match the developmental goal to the person's main need — different people have different goals.

Scheme: any five points to be explained (5 × 1 mark).
"There is a need to provide protection and support to workers in the unorganised sector of the economy in India." Explain the statement by giving appropriate examples.
Show Answer
- Low wages: workers such as construction labourers and domestic helpers are paid very low wages.
- Irregular income: work is not regular, e.g. daily-wage labourers and small farmers do not earn every day or every month.
- Lack of job security: workers can be asked to leave at any time without reason, e.g. when there is less work.
- Poor working conditions: there are no fixed working hours, no paid leave or holidays, and workplaces are often unsafe.
- Absence of social security: there is no provident fund, gratuity, pension or medical benefit.
- Exploitation: rules and regulations are not followed, so employers exploit workers, especially landless labourers, small farmers and SC/ST/backward workers.
Scheme: any five points to be explained (5 × 1 mark). Give one example with each point, as the question asks for examples.
